The TYGLY Grading System
The grading system runs from 1 to 5. Grade 1 is the softest. Grade 5 is the most textured.
Each grade uses a different fabric to create a distinct level of softness or exfoliation. The progression is clear. The choice is yours.
- Grade 1 — Bamboo-cotton blend
Gentle softness. For delicate or sensitive skin.
- Grade 2 — Soft 2-ply muslin
Light cleansing. A step up in texture without roughness.
- Grade 3 — Cotton muslin
Everyday balance. Comfortable texture for regular cleansing.
- Grade 4 — Heavy etamine cotton
Refined exfoliation. More structure when you want controlled texture.
- Grade 5 — Dobby waffle
Deep exfoliation. The most textured grade for thorough cleansing.
Understanding the Grades
Grade 1 — The Softest Touch
Bamboo-cotton creates a smooth, velvety surface. There is minimal texture. This grade removes cleanser and light makeup without any friction.
Use Grade 1 when your skin feels reactive, inflamed, or overly sensitive. In the morning when your face needs gentle care. After treatments when texture would irritate.
Grade 1 suits sensitive skin consistently, and all skin types on days when gentleness matters most..
Grade 2 — Light Texture
Soft muslin introduces grip without losing softness. The 2-ply weave creates slight texture — enough to lift makeup and surface oils more effectively than Grade 1.
Use Grade 2 for daily cleansing when you want thorough cleaning without exfoliation. When your skin feels comfortable but could benefit from a little more action than pure softness provides.
Grade 2 bridges gentle care and active cleansing. It's the step between Grade 1 and Grade 3.
Grade 3 — The Reference Point
Cotton muslin sits in the middle of the system. It offers balanced texture — present but not assertive. This is the grade most people reach for most days.
Use Grade 3 when your skin feels normal. Not particularly sensitive, not particularly dull. Just in need of straightforward, effective cleansing.
Grade 3 is the reference point. From here, you can move softer (Grade 1 or 2) or more textured (Grade 4 or 5) depending on what your skin needs.
Grade 4 — Refined Structure
Heavy etamine cotton has weight and grip. The dense weave creates friction without harshness. This grade exfoliates deliberately.
Use Grade 4 when your skin feels congested, dull, or in need of deeper cleansing. In the evening after a long day. Before makeup when you want a smooth base.
Grade 4 suits normal to oily skin regularly, and combination skin when exfoliation is intentional. It's too textured for very sensitive skin.
Grade 5 — Maximum Texture
Dobby waffle creates a raised grid surface. You feel the structure immediately. This is the grade for when your skin needs resetting, not gentle care.
Use Grade 5 when you want thorough exfoliation. When pores feel blocked. After exercise. When you need the sensation of deep cleansing.
Grade 5 suits oily and acne-prone skin regularly, and normal skin when exfoliation is the goal. Many customers use it once or twice weekly rather than daily.
How to Choose Your Grade

Most customers don't use one grade exclusively. They keep two or three in rotation:
- Grade 1 for mornings, Grade 4 for evenings
- Grade 2 most days, Grade 5 once weekly
- Grade 3 as default, Grade 1 when skin feels sensitive

Do the grades soften over time?
All grades soften slightly with washing. The texture remains distinct, but the cloth becomes more comfortable with use. This is normal and expected.
How long does each cloth last?
With proper care, each cloth lasts 3-6 months of regular use. Replace when the fabric shows wear or loses structure.
Are the grades suitable for sensitive skin?
Grade 1 and Grade 2 are designed for sensitive skin. Grade 3 works for most skin types. Grade 4 and Grade 5 are too textured for very sensitive skin but can be used occasionally when tolerated.
