Grade 4 — Heavy etamine cotton. Refined texture for controlled exfoliation.

Grade 4 moves beyond the middle of the TYGLY graded system into more structured territory. This grade offers texture you can feel — enough to exfoliate without harshness.

Heavy etamine has weight and grip. It's not a rough cloth, but it has presence. This is the grade for skin that needs more than cleansing.

What makes Grade 4 distinct

Etamine cotton has a dense, slightly raised weave that creates friction without feeling abrasive. The fabric has body — it doesn't collapse or slide across skin. It engages.

Grade 4 removes dead skin cells, embedded makeup, and surface buildup. It works when you want your skin to feel properly cleansed, not just washed.

When to use Grade 4

Use Grade 4 when your skin feels dull, congested, or in need of deeper cleansing. In the evening after a long day. Before makeup application when you want a smooth base.

This grade suits normal to oily skin types regularly, and combination skin types when exfoliation is needed. It's too textured for sensitive skin on most days.

Many customers keep Grade 4 for evening cleansing and Grade 1 or Grade 2 for mornings. The graded system lets you match texture to timing.

Where Grade 4 sits

The TYGLY system runs from Grade 1 (softest) to Grade 5 (most textured). Grade 4 is the second-most textured.

Softer: Grade 1 (bamboo-cotton), Grade 2 (soft muslin), Grade 3 (cotton muslin) More textured: Grade 5 (dobby waffle)

Grade 4 is the second-most textured point in the TYGLY graded system. Each grade uses a different fabric to create distinct texture levels.

Made using GOTS-certified organic cotton and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified fabrics.

Care instructions

Machine washable at 40°C. Tumble dry on low heat or air dry. Do not bleach. Do not iron.

The cloths soften with use and washing. Initial texture will settle after 2-3 washes.

Dimensions

Standard face cloth size. Each cloth measures approximately 25cm x 25cm.

Texture at different times

Great start and end to the day

Beautiful product and I found the right cloth for me.

I have been tryong out a Discovery Box for 4 weeks.The box has 5 cloths in it and they are graded from 1 (very soft) to 5 (rough). The box is beautiful and I will keep this for other things, and the cloths are elegant. They are natural as well which is a big thing for me and there are no microfibers or plastics. I have used all the cloths and it is easy to see and feel the differences between them. I found the grade 2 to be the best for me but that is just personal preference. My skin has some sun damage and I am in my 50s so I have to be gentle. I found grade 2 to be smooth with some bite and I like to warm it in the morning and place it on my face. It feels special. I then use this just with water to slowly cleanse and clean my face. They are hard wearing and well made and I will be ordering more grade 2 cloths to keep me stocked up and so I can wash them regularly.
